Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Automation and I&E (Instrumentation & Electrical) Technician to join our team. This role is crucial in ensuring the reliability, safety, and efficiency of automation, instrumentation, and electrical systems within our operations. The ideal candidate will have expertise in troubleshooting, maintaining, and optimizing industrial automation systems, PLCs, SCADA systems, and electrical components. A strong commitment to safety, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence is essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, inspect, maintain, and repair automation, instrumentation, and electrical systems to ensure peak performance and regulatory compliance.
• Troubleshoot and optimize PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, SCADA systems, and industrial control systems.
• Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on I&E equipment at well sites, central facilities, and other industrial locations.
• Calibrate and configure field instrumentation including pressure, flow, level, and temperature transmitters.
• Conduct loop and logic checks to support commissioning of new equipment and facilities.
• Read and interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, control diagrams, and electrical area classifications.
• Ensure automation is properly executing programs as defined in cause and effects (C&E).
• Perform electrical troubleshooting on low, medium, and high-voltage circuits.
• Collaborate with engineers, operations, and other technicians to improve automation processes.
• Maintain accurate technical and administrative documentation of maintenance activities.
• Respond to emergency situations and be on-call as needed to support operations.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, NEC, NFPA 70E, and company safety policies.
• Identify and implement cost-reduction opportunities without compromising safety or efficiency.

Work Schedule

Monday through Friday, with occasional on-call responsibilities and emergency response support outside of regular hours.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s or Technical degree preferred).
• 3+ years of experience in automation, instrumentation, and electrical maintenance.
• Strong knowledge of PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.), SCADA systems, and industrial networking.
• Experience with motor control circuits, VFDs (Allen-Bradley, Lufkin, Apergy, Fuji, Summit, Schlumberger, Baker Hughes).
• Understanding of control systems, PID loops, and industrial communication protocols (Modbus, Ethernet/IP, etc.).
• Proficiency with Microsoft O365 applications: Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams, Word.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, OSHA, and other electrical codes.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel up to 10% annually.
• Physically able to:\n – Climb ladders and stairs up to 50 feet\n – Lift and carry up to 50 pounds\n – Work outdoors in harsh weather\n – Work independently a high percentage of the time\n – Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)\n – Work unscheduled overtime as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Journeyman Electrician License, ISA Certification, or OEM-specific PLC training.
• Experience in Oil & Gas, Manufacturing, or Water/Wastewater industries.
• Familiarity with DCS systems and advanced automation technologies.
• Intermediate knowledge of National Electric Codes.
• Experience using electronic test instruments, SCADA applications, and process controls.
• Proven accountability, strong ethics, and effective collaboration skills.
• Track record of delivering results through safe, timely, and well-informed decisions.
