Roustabout Laborer

Job Summary

A Roustabout is an entry-level manual labor position in the oil and gas industry. You will perform a wide variety of general labor, maintenance, and support tasks on production sites or related facilities. This is a physically demanding role essential for keeping operations running safely and efficiently. Roustabouts often advance to roles like Lead/Foreman with experience and demonstrated reliability.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform general housekeeping and cleaning on locations, equipment, and work areas to maintain a safe and organized environment.
• Load, unload, and move materials, supplies, equipment, and tools. Most work is done by hand or equipment for lifting and moving.
• Assemble, disassemble, inspect, repair, and maintain oilfield equipment, pipes, pumps, and machinery using hand and power tools.
• Paint, Pressure cleaning, and perform basic maintenance and corrosion control on structures and equipment.
• Follow all safety protocols, participate in safety meetings, and use personal protective equipment (PPE) properly.
• Operate basic machinery such as forklifts, skid steers, or loaders (with proper certification/training).
• Assist crew members (Foremen’s/Leads, etc.) with daily Maintenance projects.
• Report any equipment issues, hazards, or incidents promptly.

Qualifications and Requirements

• High school diploma or GED preferred (or equivalent experience).
• Previous oilfield, construction, or heavy manual labor experience is a plus but not always required for entry-level roles.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening, background check, and physical examination.
• Basic knowledge of hand and power tools.
• Willingness to work long hours and in outdoor/extreme weather conditions.
• Possesses Safeland/PEC, OSHA 10, One Basin One Way, and any other certifications.

Physical Demands

This role is highly physical. You must be able to:

• Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50–100+ lbs regularly.
• Stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, climb stairs/ladders, and work at heights for extended periods.
• Work in confined spaces and extreme temperatures (hot, cold, wet, windy).
• Wear appropriate PPE, including hard hats, steel-toe boots, safety glasses, and hearing protection.
